About purebill.comThis site will discuss and comment on billing as it pertains to telecommunications companies, utilities and other businesses that have billing as a core operational application. As well, the site will include topics related to application migration. The replacement of existing software applications is common to many businesses - not just those with a billing system. This site will discuss the journey of getting from the old to the new. Note: The views and opinions expressed on this site are my own, and not necessarily those of the companies I work with, for, and around. About the ColumnApproximately every two weeks, a short column will be published discussing aspects of billing and/or application migration. About Stephen Jones
Stephen has worked at three of the larger telecommunication companies in the world: Telstra (Australia), Optus (Australia - now owned by Singtel) and AT&T (USA). His work has involved all aspects of designing for, implementing, operating and modifying their billing systems. At Telstra, Stephen was involved in the initial implementation of its core billing system (FLEXCAB) used for the majority of Australia’s existing telecommunication billing. Stephen has had ongoing involvement at all stages of the billing development process, including over two years managing 24-by-7 production support on FLEXCAB, architecting major changes to billing, including the impact when Australia extended its telephone numbers' length (a major impact to any Telecom business), and modifications to the billing process when GST was implemented in Australia. Working at Telstra, Optus and AT&T has allowed Stephen to develop a deep understanding of the billing process, experience a wide variety of billing situations, and spend time within both Wholesale and Retail billing environments. Stephen's operational experiences have involved the processing problems, transaction volumes and customer bases of Tier 1 environments. Stephen Jones worked at Accenture (formerly known as Andersen Consulting) for over twelve years leaving as a Senior Manager in the Communications and High Tech division. Stephen holds a Bachelor of Science (majoring in Computer Science) from Melbourne University, Australia.
Stephen is currently working with CR-X, a software company with a data transformation solution suitable for high-speed, high-volume processing in Telecommunications (e.g. billing, mediation, revenue assurance) and other industries where data manipulation 'at speed' is important (e.g. Financial Services, Utilities, Retailing). |
